WHO WE ARE

Art Switch Foundation

We are a NYC/Amsterdam-based nonprofit in the field of Art and Climate Action. We connect, educate, and engage with artists, scientists, academics, and art professionals. We are a cross-disciplinary platform centering on public programming, conferences, and exhibitions with a focus on climate forward and regenerative art practices.

Our activities are community-centered and future-forward to establish networks necessary for a systemic climate-conscious shift in the arts. Always curious about how the micro-level informs the macro and vice versa, our practice is fueled by trans-disciplinarity and an eagerness to bridge the gaps between theory and action.

WHAT WE DO

PAST ACTIVITIES

Art Switch’s 2023 programming series, [re]Framing the Arts: Nature Thinking in New York City,  explored how nature and artistic creation can be in symbiosis when aligned on a similar pace, materiality, and circularity. In collaboration with institutions throughout the city, the event attracted a diverse audience and fostered lively discussions on the artist’s and institution’s role in creating current and future climate practice.

In 2020/2021 the online conference series [re]Framing Arts: A Sustainable Shift, in collaboration with the University of Amsterdam and Nyenrode Business University, created the foundation for a vibrant community committed to a more sustainable art world. The series brought together academics, art professionals, curators, artists, logistics managers, art shippers and insurers to share experiences, case studies, and ideas to radically rethink the art world towards more climate conscious practices.

Sensing Change

Sensing Change Festival

A citywide Festival presented by Art Switch Foundation and Prague-based collective Transparent Eyeball from October 4 – 19, 2025. Sensing Change brings together artists, scientists, designers, and cultural thinkers for a program of talks, performances, and video installations traveling across New York City.

This year’s edition explores how humans and non-humans perceive and participate in change – exploring ecological systems and geological shifts to embodied knowledge and cultural transformation.

Drawing from process philosophy and resilience thinking, Sensing Change invites new ways of knowing – beyond screens and data sets, through collaboration, intuition, attention, and care.

We will journey across the city with 5 events, 5 locations, and 5 ways of sensing. Attendance is by registration only, as seating is limited.
